Jacqueline Lölling led home a German clean sweep to continue her superb skeleton form at the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) World Cup in Altenberg.

Lölling, the reigning world champion, produced the fastest time of the day when clocking 58.50 seconds in her first run.

She then consolidated her lead for a winning final time of 1min 57.74sec.

It marked her third victory of the season, and a second on home ice, after wins in Whistler and Winterberg.

Tina Hermann finished in second place today in a combined time of 1:57.87.

Anna Fernstaedt completed the German sweep by placing third in 1:58.17.

Elena Nikitina, the Russian who is controversially still allowed to compete despite being banned from the Olympic Games for doping, finished fifth in 1:58.50.

Britain's reigning Olympic champion Lizzy Yarnold continued a frustrating season after only posting 2:00.96 for 19th place.

South Korea's Yun Sung-bin continued his superb form heading into his home Olympics by winning the corresponding men's event in a combined time of 1:54.28.

Alexander Tretiakov, another Russian permitted to compete despite being banned from Pyeongchang 2018, placed second in 1:54.67.

Tretiakov has already been stripped of the men's skeleton gold medal he won at Sochi 2014 by the International Olympic Committee because of involvement in sample tampering at his home Games.

Christopher Grotheer of Germany finished third in 1:55.04.

Two-man and two-women bobsleigh competitions are scheduled for tomorrow in Altenberg.
