altSeptember 26 - Baba-Yaga, a witch who according to folklore kidnaps and eats small children, is among the latest ideas put forward by Russians to be the mascot for the 2014 Winter Olympics and Paralympics in Sochi.

She is one of 3,260 ideas put forward since Sochi launched its Eurovision Song-style contest earlier this month.

Thankfully, the majority of drawings received by Sochi 2014 officials are bit less sinister, including 355 munchkins, 253 bears, 245 bears and 167 dolphins.

Other popular ideas are rabbits, cats, snowmen, snow balls, snowflakes, pieces of ice, dogs, foxes, wolves, horses, squirrels, mice, frogs, penguins, octopuses, sea pinnipeds, elephants and mammoths.

Fairytales ideas include Father Frost, Snow Maiden, Russian dragon Zmey Gorynych and Cheburashka.

Ideas for the contest are being accepted until December 5 and winners will be chosen by people's vote on February 7 which will be broadcast live on national television.
