Germany's three-time Paralympic medallist Anna-Lena Forster secured her first win of the season on a day of slalom races today at the World Para Alpine Skiing World Cup in Kuhtai.

The 22-year-old following second and third place finishes in two slalom races in the Austrian resort with victory in a time of 1min 54.02sec.

She beat compatriot Ana Schaffelhuber, who took second place in 1:59.97.

Giant slalom double winner Claudia Loesch of Austria had to settle for a distant third today in 2:16.54.

"I am happy about my victory," Forster said.

"The performance was okay.

"I am very excited about tomorrow's race as more skiers will compete."

Two other skiers also sealed their first wins of the season in slalom events.

Australia’s Melissa Perrine and guide Christian Geiger won the women’s visually impaired in a time of 1:54.26 in front of two British pairings.

Menna Fitzpatrick and guide Jennifer Kehoe clocked 2:00.49 for second place as Millie Knight and Brett Wild managed 2:05.69 for third.

Slovakia placed first and second in the corresponding men's event at Miroslav Haraus and guide Maros Hudik triumphed in 1:39.50.

Team-mate and four-time Paralympic champion Jakub Krako finished second in 1:43.90 alongside guide Branislav Brozman.

Russia's Ivan Frantsev - competing as a neutral athlete - finished third with guide Denis Perevozchikov in 1:48.90.

Norway's Jesper Pedersen also made it three from three today in the men's sitting class.

The 18-year-old won in 1:43.43 to beat Takeshi Suzuki of Japan, who was second in 1:46.41.

Croatia’s Dino Sokolovic managed 1:47.25 for bronze.

More slalom races are scheduled for the final day of competition tomorrow.
