Roland Fischnaller clinched a home victory in a night parallel slalom race as the International Ski Federation Alpine Snowboard World Cup season continued today in Cortina d'Ampezzo.

The first two races of the season have been in the parallel giant slalom discipline, with Fischnaller finishing second in Cortina yesterday.

He went one better today as he defeated Edwin Coratti in an all-Italian big final.

"I really wanted that win after finishing second here three times in a row," said Fischnaller.

"It's nice as my family and friends were all here.

"It was a really good day.

"My self confidence was high after yesterday's second.

"So I could take it easy and risk a lot at the same time.

"And it worked out."

Two Russians contested the small final with Dmitry Loginov beating double Olympic gold medallist Vic Wild for bronze.

In the women's race, Austria's Sabine Schoeffmann came out on top 24-hours after her boyfriend Alexander Payer won yesterday's parallel giant slalom.

She defeated Switzerland's Julie Zogg in the final with Russia's Natalia Soboleva seeing off Daniela Ulbing of Austria for bronze.

"I'm really happy about the win," said Schoeffmann.

"Three races in a row are pretty exhausting although I didn't really recognise it physically.

"It was more a mental thing.

"But bringing home an eighth, fourth and first place finish is very good.

"That together with Alex's win yesterday's made it a perfect week; especially as it was the first time it didn't rain when I won.

"I hope the season continues like this."
