Finland booked their place in the semi-finals of the Women's World Floorball Championships as they beat hosts Slovakia 6-2 in Bratislava.

The majority of the crowd inside the Ondrej Nepela Arena were hoping for an upset but Finland proved too strong for their opponents.

Slovakia started the game well and were level at 2-2 with Finland, who have won the silver medal at the last three editions of the tournament, after the end of the first period.

Finland then began to take charge of the game but only managed to score once in the second period.

A commanding third period display from Finland put the result of the match beyond all doubt as they scored three unanswered goals to end Slovakia's hopes of a shock win.

Finland will face either Switzerland in the last four after they thrashed Norway 10-1.

Switzerland, bronze medallists in 2015, dominated from start to finish to earn a commmanding win.

The other semi-final will be between Sweden, who are bidding for a sixth consecutive title, and the Czech Republic.

Elsewhere, Denmark beat Germany 4-3 in a hard-fought ninth-place play-off, while Estonia took 11th place as they overcame the United States 8-7.
