Bren Dorman has been confirmed as the chief medical official at the Oceania Taekwondo Union (OTU).

The New Zealander has been re-appointed as the organisation's anti-doping and medical chairman.

He was congratulated on the OTU's Facebook page following the confirmation of his appointment.

A qualified doctor, Dorman currently works as a service clinical director at the Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery in New Zealand's largest city Auckland.

He also serves as the medical director for the country's governing body for the sport, Taekwondo New Zealand.

"OTU would like to congratulate Dr Bren Dorman on his re-appointment as the OTU's anti-doping and medical chair," an OTU statement said.

Taekwondo players from Oceania failed to win a medal at this year's World Championships in Muju in South Korea.

The region also drew a blank at the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazilian city Rio de Janeiro.

The OTU has announced that it will host a coaching and referees accreditation course in Australia next month.

Carindale in Queensland will host the event on December 10.
