The Russian fencer again got the better of her German opponent as she claimed a comfortable 15-8 victory.

The bronze medals in the category went to Anna Gladilina of Russia and Consuelo Nora of Italy, who also won a bronze medal yesterday.

There was further individual glory for Russia as Alexander Logutenko triumphed in the men's foil "C" event with a hard-fought 15-13 win over South Korea's Park Chun-hee in the final.

William Russo of Italy and Serhii Shavkun of the Ukraine both went home with bronze medals.

Italy earned their second team crown of the event, following up their success in the men's foil by taking gold in the men's sabre division.

The host nation denied Russia another gold medal on the penultimate day of action as they overcame their opponents 45-40 in the final.

Greece and the Ukraine were awarded bronze.

The home team quickly added a third team title in the women's foil event as they overcame Russia 45-23 in a one-sided gold medal match.

Hungary and Hong Kong claimed the final two spots on the podium as they earned bronze.

The Championships in the Italian capital conclude tomorrow.
