Costa Rica ended the group stage in first place on goal difference after a 6-0 victory today at the inaugural International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) Blind Football Central American Championships final.

They won their final match 6-0 against El Salvador to finish on 10 points and pip hosts Guatemala - who played their final match yesterday - on goal difference.

Esteban Chávez scored four times today to take his tournament tally to nine.

Costa Rica and Guatemala will meet in the final tomorrow at the stadium in Guatemala City.

Honduras secured a spot in the third place playoff match after a 3-0 win over Nicaragua.

They will face El Salvador tomorrow.

The IBSA Blind Football Central American Championships are being hosted by the Guatemalan Committee for the Blind and Deaf.

They form part of IBSA’s Central American Blind Football Development Project, utilising support from the International Paralympic Committee to develop and spread the game to the region.

The winners of the tournament will qualify for the 2018 IBSA Blind Football World Championships, scheduled to take place in Spain’s capital Madrid from June 5 to 18.
