Hong Kong’s Ng Ka Long Angus will begin his bid to justify his status as the men’s singles top seed when action begins tomorrow at the Badminton World Federations (BWF) Macau Open.

Ng is due to face China’s Lu Gangzu in the first round of the competition, which is scheduled to take place at the Tap Seac Multi-sports Pavilion.

Compatriot Wong Wing Ki Vincent is the second seed and will open his quest for glory against Indonesia's Shesar Hiren Rhustavito.

In the women’s singles event, Japan’s Aya Ohori is the top seed and is set to start her campaign against Russia's Ksenia Polikarpova.

Seeded second is Hong Kong’s Cheung Ngan Yi, who will meet Japan’s Asuka Takahashi in the opening round.

The Macau Open is a BWF Grand Prix Gold event, offering prize money of $120,000 (£91,000/€103,000).

It comes on the back of the recent Bitburger Open, which is also a Grand Prix Gold event.

China dominated the 2016 edition with Zhao Junpeng and Chen Yufei winning the respective men’s and women’s singles titles.

Zhao is seeded eighth this year and will first go up against Malaysia's Soong Joo Ven.

Chen is not on the entry list.
