Kidambi Srikanth and Ratchanok Intanon will be hoping to continue their emphatic recent form when the duo line up in the men's and women's singles competitions respectively at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) French Open this week.

The duo won their respective competitions at the Denmark Open yesterday and arrive at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin in Paris full of confidence.

India's Srikanth romped past South Korea's Lee Hyun Il in just 25 minutes yesterday, winning 21-10, 21-5 to add to his victories at the Indonesia and Australian Opens this year.

He now leads the BWF Destination Dubai Rankings in front of another South Korean, Son Wan-ho, after this victory in the Superseries event.

Thailand's Intanon rolled back the years to return to the form which saw her crowned world singles champion in 2013 by defeating fourth seed Akane Yamaguchi of Japan in the women's final 14-21, 21-15, 21-19.

Viktor Axelsen of Denmark is the top seed in the men's singles event.

The reigning world champion and Rio 2016 bronze medallist is likely to face fierce competition from South Korea's Son, the world number two.

Malaysia's Lee Chong Wei, the three-time Olympic silver medallist, is also among the field along with the reigning Olympic champion Chen Long of China.

In the women's competition, Chinese Taipei's Tai Tzu Ying is the top seed.

The double gold medallist at the recent Taipei 2017 Summer Universiade in August is currently ranked number one in the world.

India's PV Sindhu, second in the world, will also be in action this week alongside Rio 2016 champion Carolina Marin of Spain.

Action is due to begin tomorrow with qualification matches before the first round takes centre stage on Wednesday (October 25).
