Brazil have chosen 2014 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games host city Sochi as their training base for next year's World Cup in Russia.

The five-time World Cup winners became the first nation to qualify for the 2018 tournament when they beat Paraguay 3-0 in March.

The following month, Brazilian representatives travelled to Russia to view preparations for the World Cup and sound out a base for the team at the competition.

It was then decided that Sochi, home to the famous Fisht Stadium, which staged the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for the Olympics and Paralympics in 2014, would play host to the Brazilian squad.

The 47,000-capacity Fisht Stadium is scheduled to host four group matches, a round of 16 clash and a quarter-final at the World Cup, which is due to run from June 14 to July 15.

Brazil, which hosted the 2014 World Cup, sealed their place at the tournament after coming through the tough South American Football Confederation qualification round.

They have already guaranteed top spot in the 10-team group after winning 11 of their 17 matches so far, drawing five and losing just one.

The South American qualification period comes to an end with the final round of matches tomorrow.

According to Russia's state news agency TASS, Austria had also been considering using Sochi for their training camp but the European side have failed to secure a spot at the tournament.

Austria, which staged the 2008 European Championship alongside Switzerland, are fourth in their six-team group and cannot qualify for Russia.
