The trio fell to a 2-1 defeat to the Czech Republic yesterday, but hit back in their second match against Italy 2-0 to finish in second position in the Group A standings.

It would prove enough to advance behind the Czech Republic, after they sealed top spot by also overcoming Italy by a 2-0 scoreline.

Slovakia advanced from Group B, having secured three straight 3-0 victories over Poland, Serbia and Russia.

Goran Perlic and Boris Stoiljkovic battled to 2-1 wins against Poland and Russia to take Serbia through to the next round, with the duo settling for second spot in the standings.

Turkey advanced to the men's team class four second round, after they finished top of Group A by claiming two wins.

Abdullah Ozturk and Nesim Turan, the defending champions, first earned a 2-0 win over Slovakia.

They were able seal progression by repeating the scoreline against Spain, who finished in second place by beating Slovakia 2-0.

France earned a 2-1 win over Poland in Group B, before sealing first place with a 2-0 success against Romania.

The Romanian team were then eliminated having suffered a 2-0 loss to France.

Britain are among the teams guaranteed a medal in the class 10 competition as Kim Daybell and Ashley Facey Thompson overcame World Championships silver medallists Russia 2-1 in their quarter-final match.

"We've played better here than we have ever played before - really working well together - and it goes to show that if you do win that one you really put yourself in with a massive shot," said Daybell.

"They were the number three seeds and we were unlucky to draw them so it was a really nice way to win."

Britain will face Spain in the semi-finals, with both teams assured of at least a bronze medal.

Poland and The Netherlands will meet in the second semi-final.
