Elizabeth Newman led a memorable one-two for hosts Canada in archery on the penultimate day of action at the 2017 Invictus Games in Toronto.

Newman claimed gold in the women's novice recurve final at Fort York, beating compatriot Melissa Smith in the final.

Smith was forced to settle for silver while Great Britain's Clare Langham-Phillips rounded out the podium in third.

Ukraine's Roman Panchenko won the men's equivalent.

He topped the standings in the men's novice recurve event in front of Ludovic Failly of France, who took second.

Vince Cavazos of the United States claimed the bronze.

Josh Lindstrom reached the top of the podium for the Americans as he won the men's open compound final.

Ionut-Claudiu Butoi of Romania finished in second place with Denmark's Sonni Engmann completing the medal positions.

Kerys Knight of Great Britain clinched the women's open compound title.

She defeated Kyle Burnett of the US to finish in top spot while home favourite Bettina Fuchs beat compatriot Melanie Harris to the bronze.

The semi-final line-up for the wheelchair basketball competition was also confirmed today at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre.

Great Britain, The Netherlands, the US and Denmark all made it through to the last four from their respective pools.

Barack Obama joined Prince Harry for a surprise visit to the Games.

The former US President and the Prince visited the US wheelchair basketball team, all former military service personnel, just before their match against France.

The duo, accompanied by former US vice-president Joe Biden and his wife Jill, then watched the team win 28-6.

Prince Harry and the US First Lady Melania Trump met for the first time before attending the Opening Ceremony of the Games on September 23.

The Prince and Trump shook hands warmly at the bilateral meeting at the Sheraton in Toronto.

The wheelchair basketball semi-finals and medal matches will bring the sporting action to an end tomorrow, before the Games conclude with the Closing Ceremony.
