The Mon-Altius Physical Education Institute and the Chinese Culture University have claimed the men's and women's World 3x3 Basketball University League titles respectively.

Sixteen men’s and 16 women’s university teams took part in the tournament held at Huaqiao University in Xiamen in China.

Mon-Altius Physical Education Institute, based in Mongolia, prevailed in the men's final after defeating Serbia's University of Kragujevac 21-17.

McGill University from Canada, who were aiming to win a second title in a row following their 2016 success, had to settle for bronze.

They were beaten in the semi-finals by the eventual silver medallists but recovered to seal third with a 22-13 win over Universidad de Chile.

The Chinese Culture University, based in Chinese Taipei, took the gold medal in the women's event.

They proved far too strong for Canada's University of Regina and claimed a 21-12 victory in the final.

The Lithuanian Sport University were the reigning women's champions but they crashed out in the quarter-finals.

They were narrowly beaten 17-15 by China's Qinghai Normal University.

Qinghai went on to win the bronze medal in the women's event after overcoming Hungary's University of Physical Education 17-8.
