The World Curling Federation (WCF) has announced the launch of its sports media trainee programme for 2017-2018.

Full time students, from around the world, are encouraged to submit entries.

It is designed to give aspiring young sports journalists and photographers an opportunity to gain experience at international sporting events.

Trainee journalists get to interview athletes, create content for social media and report on the competition, while photographers are tasked with capturing all of the action on the ice.

The work of the trainee journalists and photographers will be published not only on the WCF's event website and social media channels but may also feature on their own Member Association's website.

In the upcoming campaign, the successful applicants will travel to Switzerland, Scotland or Sweden and will join the WCF media team promoting the sport around the globe.

Applications are now being taken from students for six positions.

The WCF will be taking one trainee journalist and one photography trainer to the European Curling Championships in St Gallen from November 17 to 25, the World Junior Curling Championships 2018 in Aberdeen from March 3 to 11 next and the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship in Oestersund, scheduled to take place between April 21 and 28 next year.

Entries are now open and must be submitted here by October 16.
