The outfield at Dhaka's Shere Bangla National Stadium has been rated as "poor" by an International Cricket Council (ICC) official.

Jeff Crowe, a member of the ICC's Elite Panel of Match Referees, gave the assessment after hosts Bangladesh entertained Australia between August 27 and 30.

He submitted a report to the ICC in which he expressed concern over the quality of the outfield.

This has now been forwarded to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), which has been given two weeks to provide its response.

The BCB's reply will be reviewed by the ICC's general manager for cricket, Geoff Allardice, and Ranjan Madugalle, another member of the Elite Panel.

Bangladesh claimed their first-ever victory over Australia at the game in Dhaka, which was the first of a two-match series.

Shakib Al Hasan took ten wickets in the game as the hosts won by just 20 runs in a low-scoring affair.

Australia went on to level the series by winning the second test by seven wickets in Chittagong.
