Both titles arrived in girls' events with Ratatip Namsri triumphing in the under-33 kilograms category at the Youth and Sports Olympic Hall.

She beat Mexico's Eyleen Gongora in the final in the Red Sea resort.

The category's bronze medals were shared by Kazakhstan's Rita Bakisheva and Egypt's home competitor Shahd Elhosseiny.

Sasikarn Tongchan added a second Thai gold in the under-51kg class.

She came through in the gold medal contest against Dilara Kartal of Turkey.

Bronzes went to Russia's Vlada Grodina and Jordan's Jumana Asfar.

Four other gold medals were decided on day one of the event, which is for competitors between 12 and 14.

Iran's Masoumeh Ranjbar triumphed in the girls' under-29kg category.

She denied Thailand another gold by beating Fasai Chaknok in the final.

Egypt won another bronze on home soil thanks to Habiba Ahmed, with Uzebkistan's Karimova Munisa also clinching a spot on the podium.

Two male categories were won by players from Saudi Arabia and South Korea.

Mohammed Alsowaiq triumphed for the former in the under-65kg class, ousting Italy's Andrea Riondino who had to settle for silver.

This was Saudi Arabia's first-ever gold medal in any major taekwondo event. 

Ukraine and Turkey won bronze medals thanks to Valerii Tanasiuk and Ahmet Timagur.

Tae-Hwan Son won the Korean gold in the over-65kg division.

He beat Russia's Georgii Borovikov in the final as Bulgaria and Jordan clinched bronze medals courtesy of Kristiyan Zlatev and Fahed Sbeihi respectively.  

Competition will continue tomorrow, with World Taekwondo President Chungwon Choue among those in attendance.
