Australia claimed a one-two in the laser class at the World Sailing Championships test event as Matthew Wearn and Olympic champion Tom Burton took silver and bronze respectively on the final day of competition in Aarhus.

Wearn ended the event with a total of 56 points, nine in front of compatriot Burton, winner of the laser competition at last year's Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Sam Meech of New Zealand was a further 11 points adrift on the final standings in the Danish city.

Josefn Olsson of Sweden, a silver medallist at the 2017 World Championships in Santander, topped the podium in the laser radial class.

The 27-year-old Swede ended the week with a score of 36 points as she beat second-placed American Erika Reineke.

The bronze medal went to Tatiana Drozdovskaya of Belarus, 17 points behind Reineke in third.

Dutchman Nicholas Heiner won the Finn category on 58 points.

Zsombor Berecz of Hungary did enough for silver on 67 points, just one point in front of Finland's Tapio Nirkko.

Two-time Turkish champion Deniz Çınar , who claimed a silver medal at the 2003 470 World Championships in Çeşme, and team-mate Ateş Çınar secured victory with a total of 37 points.

American duo Stuart McNay and Dave Hughes were 10 behind in second and French pair Kevin Peponnet and Jeremie Mion took third.

Linda Fahrni and Maja Siegenthaler of Switzerland reigned supreme in the women's 470 with 37 points.

Poland's Agnieszka Skrzypulec and Irmina Mrózek Gliszczynska clinched silver medal as they were one point away from the Swiss team.

Slovakian Tina Mrak and Veronika Macarol rounded off the podium with the bronze medal. 

Although it was a test event, the competition did not take place at the venue due to hold the World Championships next year.

The Aarhus 2018 World Championships will be centred around the brand-new Aarhus International Sailing Centre, located within walking distance from the Danish city.

Action has been held on the Egå Marina, just outside the city of Aarhus.
