Russian bobsleigh pilot Nadezhda Paleeva has been banned for two years for a violation of the anti-doping whereabouts rules.

The sanction against the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympian was confirmed by the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA).

Her ban was back-dated to begin on June 29 and related to the ADAMS system, a database used to monitor athletes.

"She did not cooperate with anti-doping organisations and did not provide the necessary information about herself in the ADAMS system," Russian Bobsleigh Federation President Alexander Zubkov, a two-time Olympic gold medallist, said to the Government's official news agency TASS.

Winter sport in Russia has been under scrutiny after doping allegations published in two editions of the McLaren Report.

The first, published in July 2016, alleged that Russia were behind a state-sponsored doping programme and that they covered up positive tests before, during and after London 2012 and their home Sochi 2014 Games, as well as at several other major international events.

A second McLaren Report, published last December, claimed that more than 1,000 Russian athletes were involved in a state-sponsored scheme.

Winter sports were asked by the International Olympic Committee not to award events to Russia and the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation stripped the 2017 World Championships from Sochi.

Paleeva finished 16th at Sochi 2014 with Nadezhda Sergeeva in the two-woman event.

The 31-year-old from Omsk was a bronze medallist at the 2015 World Championships in Winterberg in Germany in the mixed team event.
