Double world champion Al Hackner has re-joined USA Curling's coaching staff on the high performance programme.

The 63-year-old Canadian skipped his country to global titles in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Germany in 1982 and Scottish city Glasgow in 1985.

He spent two years at USA Curling between 2012 and 2014 and will now return to the fold.

He will mainly work with the women's rink skipped by Nina Roth but will also support other teams when required.

Roth is a two-time American champion.

"I am delighted to have Al back as part of the coaching team," said USA Curling's director of high performance Derek Brown.

"He has a fantastic knowledge of the game and his expertise will help take our teams to the highest level."

Hackner will begin his role on September 1.

He joins Phill Drobnick, Scott Baird, Jake Higgs and Dave Jensen on the coaching staff with the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics taking place in South Korea in February.
