The Uniform Distribution and Accreditation Centre (UDAC) for the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG) in Ashgabat has officially opened.

The chairman of the Games' Executive Committee, Dayanch Gulgeldiyev, and the chief executive of Ashgabat 2017, James Bulley, have carried out a walk-through of the facility located within the Ashgabat Olympic Complex.

At the centre, 35,000 people will receive their Games-time accreditation and uniforms.

Some of the 8,000-strong programme of volunteers, known as First Stars, had already received their accreditation and uniforms and were already in place to support others on their arrival.

Speaking to those in attendance, Gulgeldiyev said he was pleased with the unveiling.

"I would like to thank all of you and congratulate on the opening of the UDAC," he said.

"This is an important milestone for us which really shows how close we are to the Games starting.

"Our esteemed President has received his accreditation last week and we are now ready to start full distribution to all staff, volunteers and contractors."

Green, yellow or red lines on the floor lead Games-time staff through the various steps of the process.

Stops include the accreditation photo capture area, accreditation card production and uniform pick up.

Earlier this week the official uniforms for the Games were unveiled.

The uniform base colours were developed from the Ashgabat 2017 brand - karakum yellow, Turkmen green, caspian blue, injir purple, feroza green and keteni red.

The colours will differentiate between workforce, volunteers and technical officials.

Ashgabat 2017 is set to feature 21 sports in 15 venues over 12 days of competition, from September 16 to 27.

Turkmenistan’s capital was awarded the Games by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) in 2010.

The fifth AIMAG Executive Committee will organise and run the Games in cooperation with the OCA.
