Switzerland’s Ronja Blöchlinger won girls’ time trial gold on the second day of sporting action at the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in Hungarian city Győr.

The Swiss cyclist completed the event in a time of 15min 17.60sec to claim the gold medal, with Ireland’s Lara Gillespie ending as the runner-up in 15:20.53.

Britain’s Elynor Backstedt, daughter of Tour de France stage winner Magnus, completed the podium places.

She finished the event in 15:23.72.

Britain enjoyed success in judo competition as Amy Platten won the girls' under 44-kilogram competition, beating home favourite Timea Kardos in the final.

Turkey’s Ozge Andic and Hlafira Bakhur of Belarus won bronze.

Jente Verstraeten of Belgium beat Azerbaijan’s Vusala Karimova in the under-40kg final, while Ana Bjelic of Serbia and Liliana Salimianova of Russia completed the podium.

There was delight for the home crowd in the boys' under-50kg division, with Csanad Feczko fending off the challenge of The Netherlands' Daan Moes.

Belarus’ Uladzislau Dzvonik and Turkey's Ejder Tokay, the beaten semi-finalists, claimed bronze medals.

The final judo event of the day saw Turkey’s Mihrac Akkus claim under-55kg gold, with Georgia’s Beka Tsifiani taking silver.

Russia’s Arman Gambarian and Ukraine’s Oleh Veredyba took bronze.

The Russian team proved the dominant force in the pool, winning three swimming gold medals.

Daria Vaskina triumphed in the girls' 100 metres backstroke in a time of 1min and 0.87sec, with Belarus' Anastasiya Shkurdai and Italy's Costanza Cocconcelli rounding off the top three in 1:01.76 and 1:02.14.

Vaskina then helped Russia to win the mixed 4x100m medley relay in 3:51.98, finishing eight seconds clear of second placed Israel.

Bronze was earned by hosts Hungary in 4:00.34.

Andrei Minakov won Russia's third swimming title by triumphing in the men's 100m butterfly in 52.06.

He was followed by Switzerland's Noe Ponti and Italy's Federico Burdisso, who clocked 52.89 and 53.85 respectively.
