The delegation included Frantisek Taborsky, FISU's handball technical delegate, and Pauline Hamonic, the FISU World University Championships coordinator.

Accommodation was the main focus for the duo but other logistical issues such as transportation and catering were also on the agenda.

The delegates visited competition venues which will be used during the event.

"After hosting the European Universities Games last year for more than 5,000 athletes, this is a great opportunity to gather our team one more time and to host new students from all around the world," said Haris Pavletic, the President of the Organising Committee.

Taborsky and Hamonic also held talks with organisers to discuss promotional, marketing and educational activities that will take place during the Championship. 

Action is due to take place between July 30 and August 6 next year with around 500 students set to take part.

"We are very pleased to show our support for this project and to the students who will be volunteering and gaining new experiences trough it," added Kruno Topolski, President of the University of Rijeka's Student Council.

Romania are the reigning world champions in the men's event while Spain currently hold the women's title.
