The 2017 European Shooting Championships are set to begin in Azerbaijan’s capital city Baku tomorrow.

Competition is due to take place until August 4 at the city's Olympic Shooting Range.

Each European Shooting Confederation (ESC) Member Federation is able to enter a maximum of three athletes per category.

The Championships will feature traditional events such as the men's rapid fire pistol and women’s 25 metres pistol competition.

Men’s and women’s three positions rifle tournaments will also take place alongside trap and skeet shotgun action.

Two mixed team competitions in both trap and skeet are also scheduled.

The ESC claim the events will offer each Member Federation the opportunity to promote shooting sport, the athletes and the sponsors.

It was confirmed earlier this month that the ESC had finalised arrangements with Azerbaijan’s national television and the European Broadcasting Union for the Championships.

The ESC have stated receiving the European Broadcasting Union signal will only be possible with written permission from the governing body.

Television companies were asked to apply for access to the signal through the ESC Secretariat.

The cost of the technical access to the EBU satellite will be covered by the ESC for all of the approved television companies.
