Canaveral, from Westway in London, failed for a metabolite of steroid stanozolol as well as 19-norandrosterone, clomiphene and a metabolite of tamoxifen following an out-of-competition test on September 22.

An in-competition test conducted after his British Championship under 77 kilograms victory the following month also found the presence of banned stimulant Methylhexaneamine.

He is not challenging the cases and will duly be banned until October 8, 2020.

"Canaveral was charged with an Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV) pursuant to Article 2.1 of the Anti-Doping Rules (ADR) - Presence of a Prohibited Substance or its Metabolites or Markers in an Athlete’s Sample," explained a UK Anti-Doping statement. 

"For the purposes of imposing a sanction, the two ADRVs are considered as one single ADRV pursuant to ADR Article 10.7.4.

"Canaveral has admitted to the ADRV and has subsequently been banned for four years starting on October 9, 2016. 

"Results from the Junior Championships have also been disqualified."

Canaveral had dominated the under 77kg competition en route to the British title with his combined total of 253kg, a massive 21kg better than his closest rival.

"Adrian Canaveral was one of Britain’s leading junior weightlifting talents, with a bright future ahead of him in the sport," added UKAD chief executive Nicole Sapstead. 

"A poor decision has now potentially cost him that future and he now faces a lengthy ban from the sport.

“It is important to remember that his actions have not just impacted his own career, but also his competitors. 

"Canaveral stole the moment in the spotlight from those he competed against at the British Weightlifting Junior Championships.”

It comes as the International Weightlifting Federation faces a December deadline to prove to the International Olympic Committee that it is addressing doping problems in order to stay on the programme for the 2024 Olympics.
