Australia beat hosts England as they recorded a 13-4 victory at the Federation of International Lacrosse Women’s World Cup today.

The two teams met in Group A of the competition at the Surrey Sports Park in Guildford.

Abbie Burgess was the stand-out player for the Australians as she scored three goals en-route to an emphatic win.

Elsewhere in the group United States, the defending champions, recorded a fourth consecutive win.

The Americans proved too strong for rivals Canada and beat them 17-3.

Scotland and Wales completed the Group A fixtures with the Welsh claiming a 11-7 win.

All six sides in the "elite" Group A are guaranteed a spot in the quarter-finals in a bid to ensure the greatest amount of competitive matches.

Japan recorded a second 27-1 humiliation in as many days in Group D.

After thrashing Mexico yesterday, they inflicted the same scoreline onto a hapless Spanish side today.

The Mexicans were once again beaten today but it was far less embarrassing as they fell to a 7-6 defeat by Latvia.

Group B saw the Haudenosaunee Native American team continue their magnificent start to the campaign.

They made it four wins out of a possible four by beating Italy 11-10.

Hong Kong also prevailed in Group B, overcoming Switzerland 7-3.

In Group C, the Czech Republic inflicted a brutal beating over Belgium and ran out 21-1 winners.

Israel were also on the correct side of a thumping today after thrashing China 18-0.

Action concluded with matches in Group E.

Ireland beat Sweden 20-2 while New Zealand overcame Colombia 21-0.

Action continues in Guildford tomorrow with the final round of pool stage action.
