Curling Canada has announced that its 2018 Under-18 Championships will be held in Saint Andrews.

Youngsters from the sport's powerhouse will take to the ice at the W.C. O'Neill Arena Complex.

Matches will take place at a hockey arena and the the three-sheet Heather Curling Club, which is part of the venue in New Brunswick.

The tournament - which will be the second of its kind in history - will take place between April 9 and 14.

Both male and female curlers from all of Curling Canada's member associations will take part, but all must have been aged 17 and under on June 30 of this year.

An inaugural edition of the Championships took place in Moncton, also in New Brunswick, this year.

"After such a successful debut in Moncton, the bar has been set high, but I know the Saint Andrews committee is ready to put on a first-class event," said Peter Inch, the chairman of Curling Canada's Board of Governors.

"The Canadian Under-18 Boys and Girls Championships are a vital component in developing young curlers into future World and Olympic Championships, and it's exciting to see them all under one roof."

Every rink will be seeded into two seven-team pools, and will play eight-end round-robin games.

The top three from each will advance to the play-offs, with the pool winners advancing directly to the semi-finals.

Teams finishing second and third will play quarter-finals against each other to reach the last four.

"It's exciting news that New Brunswick is being given another chance to host this event, and I know the people in Saint Andrews will respond with enthusiasm," said Marg Maranda, executive director of the New Brunswick Curling Association.

"There's a very passionate curling community that will go out to make sure the curlers, their coaches and families, and all of the officials, will have a wonderful experience."
