Jairo Ruiz Lopez continued his good form after an injury-hit start to the season by winning the men's PTS5 race.

The French pair of Maxime Maurel and Yan Guanter led after the five kilometres swim, before extending their advantage on the hilly bike course.

Ruiz, who won a silver medal at the recent European Championships on his return from a knee injury, produced a strong run to pass Maurel and Guanter and cross the line first in a time of 59min 33sec.

Yannick Bourseaux also delivered an impressive run as the Frenchman overtook his compatriots to finish second, 37 seconds behind Ruiz in 1:00:10.

Maurel crossed the line in 1:00:17 to take the bronze medal.

It was an all-Spanish podium in the men’s PTVI category as Hector Catala Laparra won gold in 1:02:12.

He edged Jose Luis Garcia Serrano, who took silver in 1:03:49, while Daniel Llambrich Gabriel clinched bronze in 1:05:23.

Susana Rodriguez secured victory in the women’s PTVI race in a time of 1:09:53.

The Spaniard crossed the line over seven minutes quicker than France’s Annouck Curzillat.

She took silver in 1:16:59 with Italy’s Anna Barbaro finishing in 1:21:07 for third.

Eva Moral produced a dominant performance to win the women’s PTWC event, finishing nearly three minutes quicker than Great Britain’s Lizzie Tench in 1:18:19.

Tench took second in 1:21:26 while France’s Mona Francis rounded off the podium in 1:33:42.

Alejandro Sanchez Palomero completed Spain’s medal haul with silver in the men’s PTS4 as Great Britain’s Steven Crowley took the gold in 1:01:58.

Sanchez Palomero had to settle for silver in 1:03:30, while Croatia’s Antonio Franko finished third in 1:07:11.

The women’s PTS4 race saw two Britons finish on the podium, with Cassie Cava taking silver in 1:22:37 and compatriot Ruth Wilson winning bronze in 1:32:39.

The race was won by Japan’s Mami Tani, who finished nearly nine minutes in front of second-place Cava in 1:13:46.

There was a British one-two in the women’s PTS5 race as Claire Cashmore secured victory in front of compatriot Kerry Large.

Cashmore gained an advantage on the swim, before extending her lead on the bike and run to win in a time of 1:11:07, nearly three minutes ahead of Large who posted a 1:13:57.

Bronze went to France’s Sandra Chaleteix in a time of 1:32:48.

France won two gold medals in Altafulla with Geoffrey Wersy victorious in the PTS2 and Ahmed Andaloussi securing gold in the PTWC category.

Britain’s John Fulton led after the swim in the men’s PTS2 race, but a strong bike and run from Wersy saw the Frenchman finish first in 1:12:46.

Gianluca Valori from Italy secured silver in 1:16:25 while Fulton slipped to third in 1:22:47.

Andaloussi made it two wins out of two in this season’s World Cup in the men’s PTWC class, following his victory in the first event of the season on home soil in Besancon.

He held off the challenge of Great Britain’s Bret Crossley to win in 1:03:57.

Crossley clinched second place in 1:04:10 while Antonio Daniel Muller won Germany’s sole medal in Altafulla, finishing third in a time of 1:08:46 despite serving a 10-second penalty on the run.
