Ecuador's Neisi Patricia Dajomes Barrera dominated the women's 75 kilograms competition at the International Weightlifting Federation Junior World Championships in Tokyo today.

She won all three gold medals up for grabs at the Ota City General Gymnasium in Japan's capital and took the overall title after posting a score of 242kg.

Dajomes Barrera also won gold in the snatch and clean and jerk disciplines, with lifts of 108kg and 134kg respectively.

Ukraine's Anastasiia Shyshanov took the overall silver medal on 230kg.

She also won snatch silver after narrowly finishing behind her Ecuadorian rival on 107kg.

Armenia's Sona Poghosyan rounded out the overall podium as she took bronze with her combined score of 223kg.

Poghosyan finished second in the clean and jerk discipline on 125kg.

Russia's Maria Tretyakova took snatch bronze with a best lift of 99kg while Dajomes Barrera's compatriot, Tamara Yajaira Salazar Arce, took clean and jerk bronze after posting a best attempt of 124kg.

Action also took place in the men's 94kg event with Uzbekistan's Farkhodbek Sobirov easing to the overall gold medal after also winning the snatch and clean and jerk stages of the competition.

He won the overall title with a combined score of 390kg to retain the crown he won last year.

Sobirov, the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games silver medallist, clinched first place in the snatch section on 180kg before adding clean and jerk gold to his tally with a best lift of 210kg.

Yauheni Tsikhantsou of Belarus claimed a hat-trick of silver medals.

He finished 12kg behind Sobirov in the overall standings on 378kg.

Tsikhantsou posted best attempts of 171kg and 207kg in the snatch and clean and jerk events respectively to win two more medals.

Third place overall went to Iran's Rahman Ourameh on 364kg.

He also took a bronze medal in the clean and jerk with a best lift of 205kg.

Today's snatch bronze medal was awarded to Kyryl Pyrohov of Ukraine on 169kg.
