Sambo training camps have been held in South Korea to prepare the nation's athletes for the upcoming Asian Championships.

Activities were held at the Seongnam High School gym, the "Korea Top Team" club in Seoul and Sambogym in Gyeongju.

Asian competitors are preparing for their Continental Championships, which are due to take place in Tashkent in Uzbekistan between June 29 and July 3.

Training sessions were held by Korean sambo specialists and five-time sambo world champion Evgenii Esin of Russia.

Esin is now staying on in the country for a further two months in order to continue training Korean athletes.

"Our friends are very eager to learn sambo techniques, they are willing to win medals at the upcoming Asian Championships," said Chong-Keum Moon, the President of the Korean Sambo Federation.

"I considered it necessary to support a new member of the sambo family for steady development of sambo in the region.

"Korean coaches as well as Russian specialist Evgenii Esin held top-level training.

"The entertainment programme between the training also provided our guests with good vibes."
