The Ukrainians eased to a comfortable 3-0 victory over their English opponents in Sardinia's capital.

After taking the lead within nine minutes, the Ukrainians took their 1-0 advantage into half time.

England started the second half brightly as they went in search of an equaliser.

Their attacking play left them vulnerable, however, and Ukraine took advantage as they launched a swift counter-attack to score their second.

With England utilising a "fly goalkeeper" in the final minutes, the Ukrainians notched their third goal with a shot into the empty net from the half-way line.

In the bronze medal match, Russia overcame Spain 2-1 via a penalty shoot-out following a 2-2 draw in regulation time.

The tournament is for B2 and B3 players, who have less impairment than the B1 category where athletes are almost or totally blind.

It is being run by Tigers Paralympic Sport, a member of the Italian Paralympic Federation for the Visually Impaired (FISPIC).

The tournament is the seventh edition in all, with action returning to Europe for the first time since 2004 when Manchester in England played host.

Ukraine also won the last edition held in South Korean capital Seoul in 2015.
