Thai duo Ratchanok Intanon and Busanan Ongbamrungphan will contest the women's singles final at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Thailand Open following semi-final victories on home soil today.

Intanon, the tournament's top seed, defeated Beiwen Zhang of the United States 21-18, 21-15 at the Nimibutr Stadium in Bangkok.

She was soon joined in tomorrow's final by Ongbamrungphan after the fourth seed overcame India's Saina Nehwal, the London 2012 Olympic bronze medallist and former world number one, 21-19, 21-18.

There will be no Thai player in the men's singles final after their sole representative remaining in the competition was eliminated.

Pannawit Thongnuam, who knocked out compatriot and top seed Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk yesterday, failed to capitalise as he succumbed to a 21-11, 21-15 defeat to India's Sai Praneeth Bhamidipati.

Awaiting the third seed will be Jonatan Christie of Indonesia after he overcame Malaysia's Joo Ven Soong 21-9, 21-18.

The Thai pairing of Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Sapsiree Taerattanachai were eliminated in the mixed doubles.

The home favourites and top seeds were ousted by Malaysia's Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Jemie Lai, 21-19, 19-21, 21-17.

Joining them in the final are the Chinese pairing of He Jiting and Du Yue after they secured a 23-21, 21-19 win over Hee Yong Kai Terry and Tan Wei Han of Singapore.

The English pairing were beaten by Berry Angriawan and Hardianto Hardianto of Indonesia 22-20, 18-21, 21-9.

In an all-German semi-final, Raphael Beck and Peter Kaesbauer defeated Mark Lamsfuss and Marvin Emil Seidel 21-18, 14-21, 21-19.

There was a mixed day for the host nation in the women's doubles with one pair through to the final and another eliminated.

Chayanit Chaladchalam and Phataimas Muenwong overcame China's Du Yue and Xu Ya 21-19, 21-9.

Singapore's Greysia Polii and Apriyani Rahayu silenced the home crowd when they secured their place in the final by coming from a game down to beat Thailand's Savitree Amitrapai and Pacharapun Chochuwong 24-26, 21-16, 21-13.

Action is due to conclude tomorrow with the finals.
