Anastassiya Ibrahimli struck weightlifting gold for hosts Azerbaijan as action continued today at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku.

Competing in the women's 69 kilograms category at the Weightlifting Arena, Ibrahimli lifted 100kg in the snatch and 119kg in the clean and jerk for an overall winning total of 219kg.

Turkmenistan's Gulnabat Kadyrova came second with 214kg, while Uzbekistan's Manzurakhon Mamasalieva finished third with 203kg.

There was also a medal for Azerbaijan in the women's 63kg competition as Elnura Abbasova won bronze with 184kg.

Turkmenistan's Polina Guryeva lifted 88kg in the snatch and 105kg in the clean and jerk for a gold medal-winning total of 193kg, beating nearest challenger Kumushkhon Fayzullaeva of Uzbekistan by a margin of 6kg.

Further home success came in today's shooting competition, which saw Ali Huseyinli and Aydan Jamalova claim the mixed team trap title

The duo beat Turkey's Oguzhan Tuzun and Nihan Gurer 43-42 in the final at the Baku Shooting Centre.

In a tightly-contested all-Qatari bronze medal match, Mohammed Khejaim and Kholoud Hassan Al Khalaf overcame Nasser Ali Al Hemaidi and Amna Al Abdulla 37-36 after the contest came down to the final target.

The women's skeet title went the way of Turkey's Nur Banu Ozpak with a total of 45 points, three more than Azerbaijan's Nurlana Jafarova in second.

Ozpak's compatriot Izel Aydin claimed bronze with 35 points.

Another Turk, Yusuf Dikec, dominated the men's 50 metres pistol final with a total of 223.0 points.

The 44-year-old fought off Oman's Ismail Al Abri, who had to settle for silver with 220.8 points.

Iran's Mohammad Ahmadi moved into third place after six rounds and managed to hold onto his standing to take the bronze medal with 200.9 points.

Turkey experienced mixed fortunes in the swimming pool at the Baku Aquatics Centre as their women dominated, but their men failed to land a single individual gold medal.

Ilknur Nihan Cakici, Ekaterina Avramova and Nida Eliz Ustundag secured gold for Turkey in their respective women's events, while their men had to settle for a solitary success in the 4x200m freestyle relay.

Cakici cruised to victory in the women's 100m freestyle in 56.27sec, while Bayan Jumah took Syria's first swimming silver of the Games in 57.04.

Turkey's Sezin Eligul came away with bronze in 57.07.

Avramova, meanwhile, won an absorbing contest with Turkish compatriot Halime Zulal Zeren to grab gold in the women's 200m backstroke in 2:13.52.

Zeren was second in 2:16.31, followed by Indonesia's Nurul Fitriyati in third in 2:20.09.

As for Ustundag, she triumphed in the women's 200m butterfly in 2:11.78 with Indonesia's Adinda Dewi second in 2:14.05 and fellow Turk Imge Roza Erdemli third in 2:14.19.

The only final Turkey's women failed to win today was the 1,500m freestyle, which went the way of Algeria's Souad Nefissa Cherouati in 17:13.55.

Indonesia’s Raina Ramdhani was the runner-up in 17:14.58, while Turkey's Ecem Donmez was third in 17:17.73.

Turkey won the men’s 4x200m freestyle relay in 7:32.32, holding off Indonesia, who came second in 7:38.42, and Jordan, who finished third in 7:54.42.

There was also success for Turkey in the men's and women's tennis team competitions.

The country's men's team defeated Pakistan 3-0 in the gold medal match at the Baku Tennis Academy, while the women's team topped their round-robin standings with four wins out of four.

Uzbekistan overcame Qatar 2-1 in the men's bronze medal contest and took silver in the women's competition after finishing second in the standings.

The women's bronze medallists were Turkmenistan.
