Speedo Australia have announced an extension to their sponsorship of the Australian Commonwealth Games team prior to Gold Coast 2018.

The swimwear brand have supported Australia’s best swimmers and divers for over 75 years and the manufacturer have claimed their extended agreement will be perfect way to celebrate their 90th anniversary next year.

Under the terms of the agreement, Speedo will supply training and competition swimwear for the team at the Games.

“We’re thrilled to be extending our relationship with the team,” said Graham Eyres, brand manager of Speedo Pacific.

“It’s our mission to inspire all Australians to swim and grow the sport of swimming, and we believe our Commonwealth team sponsorship will do this.

“We can’t wait to see what our swimmers and divers deliver on a home soil Commonwealth Games.”

Australia will hope to replicate their performance in the pool at Glasgow 2014, where they secured 57 swimming medals, including 19 gold, 21 silver and 17 bronze.

Their divers also earned two gold, three silver and three bronze medals.

“Speedo’s product range will be on display as the swimmers and divers of the Australian Commonwealth Games team rule the pool at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre,” said Peter Beattie, Gold Coast 2018 chairman.

“Speedo’s ongoing support for the Commonwealth Games movement, having supported the team since around 1958, is applauded.

“They are another great addition to the ever-expanding Gold Coast 2018 sponsor family and we look forward to working with them to deliver a great Games.”

The agreement comes shortly after Speedo extended a partnership with the Australian Olympic team for a further 12 years, taking their relationship to the 2028 Olympics.
