China's Li Lingwei has confirmed as the replacement for Frank Fredericks as interim chair of the IOC's Coordination Commission for Buenos Aires 2018.

The IOC member will chair a six-strong body also including Slovakia's Danka Bartekova and New Zealand's Barry Maister.

Her appointment was officially confirmed in the latest list of IOC Commissions.

Li, elected as one of three Chinese IOC members in 2013, is considered one of the greatest female badminton players in history, having won three world titles in the 1980s.

She replaces Fredericks, who has"provisionally suspended himself" from the IOC as he seeks to clear his name after being linked to suspicious payments made shortly before Rio de Janeiro was awarded the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2009.

The IOC Ethics Commission is looking into payments a company linked to Namibia's four-time Olympic silver medallist received three days before the decisive vote in Copenhagen.

The 49-year-old has denied any wrongdoing.

Documents provided by American tax authorities showed how Papa Diack, the son of former International Association of Athletics Federations President Lamine Diack, transferred $300,000 (£245,000/€284,000) to a Seychelles-based offshore company called Yemli Limited in 2009, through a company he owned.

Yemli Limited is linked to Fredericks, who referred himself to the IOC Ethics Commission when the accusations surfaced on March 3.

He insists the funds are related to a marketing contract dated March 11 in 2007 due to go towards developing various events including a relay championships, an IAAF marketing programme, the African Athletics Programme, the IAAF Continental Programme and the African Athletics Championships.

Fredericks has also been replaced by Patrick Baumann as chair of the Evaluation Commission for the 2024 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games.

But he is still listed as an active member of the Olympic Programme Commission.

Canada's former International Table Tennis Federation President Adham Sharara is another member of the Buenos Aires 2018 Coordination Commission along with Britain's Association of Summer Olympic International Federations executive director Andrew Ryan and Olympic Committee of Costa Rica President Henry Nuñez Najera.

The Games are due to be held between October 6 and 18 in 2018.
