Lucas Sithole secured the quad singles title on home soil as he wrapped up victory over Israel’s Itay Erenlib in a rain-affected final at the South Africa Wheelchair Tennis Open today.

The South African number one led by a set and a break when the weather forced play to be abandoned yesterday but he wasted little time in completing a 6-2, 6-4 win at the Ellis Park Tennis Stadium.

"I'm very happy with the way I played from the first match to the last one," said Sithole.

"There were a lot of challenges in most of the matches but I’m glad I could overcome them and keep the trophy at home.

"It was important for me to win as I got a lot of rankings points and I will maybe jump to number three in the world next week so it was a good opportunity for me, which I grabbed with both hands."

Sithole then added the doubles trophy to his collection, partnering Britain's Antony Cotterill to a 6-4, 6-2 success against South African Bongani Dlamini and Erenlib.

Elsewhere on the last day of the event, Stefan Olsson claimed his first-ever South Africa Open title as he stunned Paralympic champion Gordon Reid of Britain in the men's singles final.

The Swedish player ensured he topped the podium as he recorded a comfortable 6-4, 6-2 triumph.

"The confidence is so high – I can’t really believe it and I’m playing my best tennis ever at the moment," said Olsson.

"Hopefully I can keep it up."

Reid then put his singles disappointment to one side as he teamed up with Alfie Hewett to clinch the men's doubles crown.

The British duo beat the French pairing of Stephane Houdet and Nicolas Peifer 6-3, 6-4.

The women's singles final was an all-Dutch affair, with Diede de Groot also sealing her maiden South Africa Open title as she outsted compatriot Marjolein Buis, who appeared to be struggling with an injury, 6-1, 6-0.

The Dutch pair went on to win the women's doubles event thanks to a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Sabine Ellerbrock of Germany and Charlotte Famin of France.
