Otgontsetseg Galbadrakhyn of Kazakhstan claimed the seventh major International Judo Federation (IJF) title of her career with gold in the women's under-48 kilograms class at the Grand Prix event in the Turkish city of Antalya today.

Galbadrakhyn won bronze at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and her class shone through as she claimed the title against Israel's Shira Rishony with a waza-ari in the final at the Arena Spor Salonu.

Portugal's Maria Siderot improved on her fifth place finish at last weekend's Tbilisi Grand Prix to claim one bronze medal while Aisha Gurbanli of Azerbaijan secured the other.

Distria Krasniqi, the junior world champion in 2015 and the training partner of the Kosovan Rio 2016 Olympic champion Majlinda Kelmendi, claimed gold in the women's under-52kg competition.

Gili Cohen of Israel, winner of the 2016 Baku Grand Slam title and the number one seed in the event, was Krasniqi's opponent in the final.

Within less than a minute, the Kosovan had already scored a waza-ari after she blocked one of Cohen’s attacks and countered her.

She then scored again with a sasae-tsuri-komi-ashi for a second waza-ari and saw out the remainder of the match to clinch gold.

Azerbaijan's Nazakat Azizova secured the category's first bronze medal while Ariel Bezalel of Israel defeated Diyora Keldiyorova of Uzbekistan in a golden score to win the second.

Kosovo's Nora Gjakova built on Krasniqi's success and went on to win her country's second gold medal of the day in the under-57kg event.

Timna Nelson Levy of Israel was Gjakova's opponent in the final.

In what proved a tight affair, the Kosovan managed to produce a waza-ari with a hip technique that she held on to, claiming the title.

Great Britain's Bekky Livesey won the second Grand Prix bronze medal of her career after defeating Kseniia Beldiagina of Kyrgyzstan while Kazakhstan's Sevara Nishanbayeva took the other.

There was also action in two men's categories today.

The hopes of the host nation rested firmly on the shoulders of Bekir Ozlu in the under-60kg category.

Ozlu successfully made it through to the final where the home crowd was raucous.

His opponent, Gusman Kyrgyzbayev of Kazakhstan, managed to silence the Turkish support after he scored a waza-ari to win the bout.

Ozlu was forced to settle for a silver medal on home soil while the bronzes were won by Amartuvshin Bayaraa of Mongolia and Ozlu's compatriot Ahmet Sahin Kaba.

Russia's Abdula Abdulzahlilov claimed the final gold medal of the day in the under-66kg division.

Within 80 seconds, the Russian had struck opponent Bektur Rysmambetov of Kyrgyzstan with a waza-ari after a sode-tsuri-komi-goshi technique which proved to be the decisive score in the bout.

Tumurkhuleg Davaadorj of Mongolia and Baruch Shmailov of Israel were bronze medallists.

Action is due to continue tomorrow with the women's under-63kg and under-70kg competitions.

There will also be men's action in the under-73kg and under-81kg categories.
