The International Judo Federation (IJF) Grand Prix season is set to continue this weekend in the Turkish city of Antalya with over 250 athletes set to compete.

After four successful editions of the Turkish Grand Prix held in Samsun on Turkey's northern coast, the event has moved south to Antalya for the first time with the Arena Spor Salonu playing host.

It is the third IJF Grand Prix event of the season and comes after stops in Tbilisi in Georgia and the German city of Düsseldorf.

Competition will be spread across three days and see medals awarded in 14 weight divisions, seven for men and seven for women.

“The IJF World Judo Tour is now in Turkey in its newest location as Antalya joins the global list of host cities," said IJF President Marius Vizer.

"I believe that the Turkish Judo Federation will provide first-class hospitality and a world-class competition.

"I wish good luck to everyone involved in the organisation and delivery of the competition.

"I am confident that you will show our sport in a positive light and will enjoy your experience in Turkey.“

Otgontsetseg Galbadrakhyn of Kazakhstan is set to compete in the women's under-48 kilograms event.

She won bronze at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and has won six major IJF title in her career so far.

Portugal's Maria Siderot could offer some fierce competition as she looks to improve on her fifth place finish at last weekend's Tbilisi Grand Prix.

Mongolia's Tumurkhuleg Davaadorj will be hoping to go one better than last week when he finished second in the men's under-66kg competition.

Giyosjon Boboev of Uzbekistan will be hoping to win the under-73kg title for the second time in two weeks after he proved too good in the Georgian capital last week.

Action is set to begin tomorrow with the men's under-60kg and under-66kg events.

Women's under-48kg, under 52kg and under-57kg are also scheduled for Friday.
