Kazakhstan's Anatoliy Savelyev has claimed gold in the men's 62 kilograms event on day three of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) Youth World Championships in Thai capital Bangkok.
Savelyev comfortably won the gold medal by 5kg as he finished on a total 281kg.
The Kazakh opened the competition with a best lift of 127kg in the snatch section of the event.
He then added a clean and jerk total of 154kg which saw him clinch the title.
Yunban Wei of China finished in second place with a total score of 276kg after he finished 4kg behind Savelyev on the clean and jerk section.
Muhammad Halim Setiawan of Indonesia rounded out the podium with his total score of 267kg.
In the women's 53kg category, China's Mengqian Yu narrowly claimed the gold medal.
Yu produced a total score of 189kg to edge Kim II Gyong of North Korea who completed the competition on 188kg.
The Chinese competitor was far superior in the snatch phase of the competition, out-lifting her rival by 4kg.
Gyong replied by producing a better lift in the clean and jerk stage but it was not enough to overturn the deficit.
The bronze medal was won by Kamila Konotop of Ukraine with a total score of 186kg.
Action is set to continue in Bangkok tomorrow.
