Denmark have successfully defended their European Mixed Team Badminton Championships title today as they easily beat Russia in Lubin this afternoon.

The Danes retained their title in the most comfortable way possible, failing to drop a single set in the final's three matches.

Joachim Fischer Nielsen and Christinna Pedersen got Denmark off to the best possible start as they saw off Russia's Ivan Sozonov and Ekaterina Bolotova 24-22, 21-10 in 45 minutes.

They were then put on the brink of the title following the men's singles match.

Anders Antonsen breezed past Russia's Anatoliy Yartsev 21-7, 21-8 in just 28 minutes.

The Danes arrived in Poland as the overwhelming favourites to lift the title.

Denmark have now won this competition 17 times in the last 23 editions.

England and Germany shared the bronze medal after they were beaten by Russia and Denmark in yesterday's semi-finals respectively.
