Germany created history at the women's International Ski Federation (FIS) Ski Jumping World Cup in Ljubno today by becoming the first country in the history of the circuit to clean-sweep the podium.

The current World Cup campaign is the sixth held for female jumpers with Katharina Althaus winning for Germany today at the Slovenian hill.

Carina Vogt and Svenja Würth were second and third respectively although the competition was lacking the current top two in the overall standings, Japan's Sara Takanashi and Yūki Itō.

Mixed team world champion Althaus recorded jumps of 92.5 metres and 90m for a total points tally of 249.

Vogt, who won the first-ever women's Olympic ski jumping gold medal at Sochi 2014, received 244.6 points for her efforts of 91m and 90m.

Würth jumped 92.5m and 89m for third place, receiving 242.7 points.

"This is amazing," said Althaus.

"It feels great to win a World Cup.

"And even better to share the podium with my teammates."

Takanashi could retain her overall World Cup title at the next leg in Pyeongchang as she boasts a 156 point lead over Norway's Maren Lundby, yesterday's winner in Ljubno who was fourth today.

In the men's competition in Sapporo in Japan, Poland's overall World Cup leader Kamil Stoch rediscovered his form to take victory.

A mistake in yesterday's first competition saw him finish 18th but jumps of 137.5m and 140m were enough for a winning points total of 262.7 today.

Andreas Wellinger of Germany was second, leaping 140.5m and 132m for 255.3 points.

Third place went to Austrian Stefan Kraft, who finished on 249.6 points thanks to his efforts of 132m and 144m.

"Today was a much better day for me," Stoch said.

"Yesterday I had some problems, especially in the air, today everything worked well and so I could jump much better."

Stoch has 1,190 points on top of the leaderboard, with Kraft on 1,040 in second.

Daniel-André Tande of Norway is third on 1,034.

Pyeongchang will host World Cup events for men and women from February 15, with the competitions serving as test events for the 2018 Winter Olympics in the South Korean county.
