Mikhail Matveev and Anastasiia Loginova ended snowboard competition here at the 2017 Winter Universiade on a Russian high after taking gold in the men’s and women's big air snowboard competitions respectively.

Matveev secured his second gold of the competition in Almaty courtesy of a score of 94.75 in the first run at the Tabagan Ski Resort.

The 20-year-old also prevailed in the men’s slopestyle competition in the Kazakh city on Sunday (February 5).

Australia's Joss McAlpin finished in second place today with his best attempt of 88.25.

Martin Mikyska of the Czech Republic held on to third place with his best of 87.75, despite only scoring 33.25 in the second run.

Loginova then made it a Russian double as she took gold in the women's big air final.

The 20-year-old, who studiest at the Ekaterinburg Institute of Physical Education, added gold to her slopestyle bronze as she produced a best score of 85.25 in the second run to rise to the top of the standings.

Her compatriot, Elena Kostenko, took second with her best of 83.75 which was also achieved in the second run of the competition.

Poland's Katarzyna Rusin, who looked ominous all day, failed to improve on her first run score of 81.25 meaning she had to settle for bronze.
