Sarah Devouassoux and Leo Le Ble claimed a sensational French double in today's snowboard cross competitions at the 2017 Winter Universiade here in Almaty in Kazakhstan.

Devouassoux was imperious in the women's competition and won every stage of the event from the first round of qualification through to the big final.

Miriam Wuffli of Switzerland took the silver medal after finishing second in the big final at Shymbulak Ski Resort.

The Czech Republic's Katerina Chourova claimed bronze.

Dominika Wolska of Poland was the one to miss out on a medal after she finished fourth in the big final.

Moments after Devouassoux claimed gold, Le Ble secured the double for his country after winning gold in the men's event.

Le Ble suffered a slight blemish on his record for the day, finishing second in his second qualifying round before going unbeaten for the remainder of the competition.

Another Frenchman, Guilhem Apilli, took the silver medal to emphasise his country's dominance in the discipline.

Rounding out the podium was Switzerland’s Sandro Perrenoud.
