Olympic silver medallist Mikaël Kingsbury will bid for his seventh straight victory in Calgary during the upcoming International Ski Federation (FIS) Moguls World Cup event, which begins tomorrow.

Kingsbury has won the previous six competitions to be held at Calgary’s WinSport Canada Olympic Park and will be hoping to strengthen his lead at the top of the overall standings.

His victory at last weekend’s event in Val St Come saw him reclaim his place at the summit of the leaderboard after he was briefly ousted by Dmitry Reiherd of Kazakhstan.

Reiherd, a silver medallist in moguls at the 2015 Winter Universiade in Granada, was eighth in Val St Come and will be aiming to bounce back with a win in Calgary.

Matt Graham of Australia, Ben Cavet of France and Sho Endo are all chasing down the top two on the standings.

Kingsbury, who is hoping to become the overall freestyle World Cup champion for the sixth time in a row, currently leads the moguls standings on 240 points.

Reiherd is 58 adrift in second place, with Graham a further 36 behind.

Canada’s women arrive in Calgary as the favourites once again after they swept the podium in Val St Come.

Justine Dufour-Lapointe, the reigning Olympic champion, had suffered a slow start to the season but secured victory last weekend to move into third spot on the leaderboard.

The 22-year-old finished in front of Andi Naude, while Justine’s sister Chloe took third.

The Canadian women managed a similar podium sweep last season and a repeat would see them edge closer to current overall leader Britteny Cox of Australia, who has 245 points.

Action begins tomorrow with qualification in the women’s event, before the men follow shortly after.

Finals will then be held in the afternoon.
