A German competitor has now won all 12 World Cup legs of the season with the country clean-sweeping the podium for the fourth time this term today.

Double Olympic medallist Rießle topped the pile for the second time this season despite starting the cross-country leg in eighth position following his ski jumping performance.

Johannes Rydzek, who won the opening competition in Chaux-Neuve yesterday, had to settle for second this time as overall World Cup champion Eric Frenzel came home third.

Norway's Jarl Magnus Riiber led after the jumping section as he recorded a leap of 115 metres for a 16 second start on the pack.

He was caught at the halfway stage of the 10 kilometre race, however, as a pack of around 20 skiers formed.

The three Germans accelerated on the final lap to leave their rivals behind with Rießle edging out his two compatriots.

He finished in a winning time of 22min 44sec with Rydzek timed at 22:46.2 in the Gundersen event.

Frenzel was third in 22:51.9 as Riiber slipped back to 23rd. 

In the overall standings, Olympic champion Frenzel still tops the pile with 944 points.

Rydzek is second on 930 with Rießle now third on 721.

The season will resume next weekend with the fourth edition of the Nordic Combined Triple in Seefeld in Austria.

The first of three World Cup races in as many days will take place on January 27, with a 5km cross-country leg following the ski jumping.

Races over 10km and 15km will follow over the next two days.
