The 2017 New Zealand Badminton Open has been rescheduled due to a clash with three Adele concerts.

The tournament was set to take place between March 21 and 26, but organisers have decided to postpone it to August due to the logistical issues the English performer's shows will pose.

After taking advice from key stakeholders and the Badminton World Federation (BWF), the Grand Prix Gold level event will now take place between August 1 and 6 at the same venue of the North Shore Events Centre in Auckland.

Adele is set to play three concerts in the city on March 23, 25 and 26 at the city's Mount Smart Stadium.

"Due to a clash with the recently announced Adele concert, there will be a change to the date of the 2017 SKYCITY New Zealand Badminton Open," a statement on the tournament's website said.

"The Adele concert has set numerous NZ ticket sales records with more than 100,000 sold for the three concerts.

"This has had a severe impact on a number of key components required to deliver our event.

"These factors include accommodation and transport availability and price, as well as other critical event infrastructure requirements."

The Waikato International tournament, scheduled to be held in Hamilton, has also been moved back a week and will now take place between August 9 and 12.

Adele's Auckland shows sold out in record time, becoming the fastest selling tour in New Zealand.

As a result, a temporary grandstand will be built on the north bank of Mount Smart Stadium, providing an additional 5,000 tickets per show.

The singer, one of the biggest names in international music, has sold more than 100 million records worldwide and has won 10 Grammy Awards.

The 28-year-old also performed the theme song for the 2012 James Bond film, Skyfall.
