The event in the Dutch town is due to take place as part of the International Cycling Union European Junior Cycling Tour, between July 30 and August 4.

Combining the events means the Inas cyclists will be able to battle for their own world titles, while testing themselves against the best young European talent at the same time.

More than 700 cyclists are expected in Assen in all with Inas describing the pairing of competitions as a "fantastic opportunity" for their riders.

Rinus Verboom, Inas' cycling director, said: "I am delighted to see these Championships coming to The Netherlands. 

"We have some fantastic cyclists, and the event provides a platform for them to perform against some excellent young cyclists. 

"My thanks go to the local organisers for making this event possible."

Last year's World Championships took place at the Racice Sportcentrum in Štětí in the Czech Republic.

Sanne Briggeman, chairman of Assen's Organising Committee, said: "I am looking forward to meeting you all in Assen for these Championships. 

"I think the local organisation has selected a trio of beautiful and selective courses. 

"I can already say that there will be a small piece of cobblestone road in one of the courses. 

"We meet on the 30th of July 2017 in Assen.

"All there is left to say is train hard, cycle fast and make fun."
