Johanna Konta is the highest ranked player who has been included in the Fed Cup Zone Group I matches due to take place next month.

The world number 10, currently playing in the Sydney International tournament, was selected in the Great Britain squad alongside Heather Watson, Laura Robson and Jocelyn Rae for their Europe/Africa Zone event being staged at the Tallink Tennis Centre in Tallinn in Estonia from February 8 to 11.

Alongside Britain and the host country, Austria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Georgia, Hungary, Israel, Latvia, Poland, Portugal, Serbia and Turkey will also be involved, with the top two nations going forward to the World Group II play-offs on April 22 and 23.

The Americas Zone competition is set to feature Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, Venezuela and Mexico, who are also hosting the event from February 6 to 11 at the Club Deportivo la Asuncion in Metepec.

There will also be Group I action in the Asia/Oceania zone at the National Tennis Centre in Astana, Kazakhstan, between February 8 and 11.

The hosts will be joined in the draw by China, India, Japan, South Korea, The Philippines and Thailand.

One team from both the Americas and Asia/Oceania zones will qualify for the play-offs.

Draws for all three zones will be held on the opening day of the Australian Open in Melbourne Park on January 16.

The Czech Republic are the current Fed Cup champions after beating France 3-2 in November’s final to bag their fifth title in six years.
