Austria's Chiara Hoelzl topped the qualification standings at the women’s International Ski Federation (FIS) Ski Jumping World Cup event in Oberstdorf, Germany, today.

The 18-year-old, who won the silver medal with the Austrian team in the normal hill mixed event at the 2013 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Val di Fiemme in Italy, produced a jump of 124.5 metres.

When combined with her judges score of 54 points, she emerged with a total of 130.9 points.

Trailing behind Hoelzl were three German competitors.

Carina Vogt finished in second, 6.6 points behind Hoelzl, on 124.3.

Svenja Wuerth claimed third with a score of 115.3 while Juliane Seyfarth completed the German onslaught as she finished in fourth on 108.2.

Ten of the top 11 athletes in the overall World Cup standings were already pre-qualified while Germany's Anna Rupprecht is out through injury.

Japan’s Sara Takanashi will continue her quest to defend the women’s World Cup title this weekend.

The 20-year-old leads the overall World Cup standings by 110 points going into the fifth event of the campaign.

She has won three of the previous four, including two victories at the season opener in Norwegian town Lillehammer and success in the second of two competitions in Russian city Nizhny Tagil.

Takanashi’s only slight blip came in the first competition in Nizhny Tagil as she finished third behind winner Maren Lundby of Norway and runner-up Daniela Iraschko-Stolz of Austria.

Iraschko-Stolz is second in the overall World Cup standings, 110 points behind Takanashi.

Yuki Ito, Takanashi’s compatriot, is a further eight points back in third.

Competition days are set to take place tomorrow, at 4.20pm local time, and Sunday (January 8).

Following the stop in Oberstdorf, action then moves to Takanashi’s home country with competitions in Sapporo on January 14 and 15.
