Insurance firm Allianz UK have extended their partnership with the British Paralympic Association (BPA) for a further four years.

The deal will cover the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Paralympics in South Korea and the next summer edition in Japanese capital Tokyo in 2020.

Allianz first partnered with the BPA in January of this year in the build-up to Rio 2016 in September.

Britain then achieved their best-ever Games in the Brazilian city, claiming 64 gold medals in a total haul of 147.

That was enough to finish second on the medals table behind China.

As part of the new agreement, Allianz will support the BPA with their preparations for both Pyeongchang 2018 and Tokyo 2020 and help "ensure that the most competitive ParalympicsGB team is ready to compete on the biggest stage in disability sport and to inspire and engage the nation through their performances on the field of play".

In turn, the BPA will continue to support "Allianz’s commitment to promoting inclusion, diversity, and excellence, both in the workplace and in the world of competitive sport".

Tim Hollingsworth, chief executive of the BPA, said: "Allianz have very much established themselves as part of the Paralympic family here in the UK through their work with us, a team of athlete ambassadors and their broadcast partnership with Channel 4.

"We are delighted to continue to develop this relationship as we look towards Pyeongchang 2018 and Toyko 2020."

Allianz is also a partner of the International Paralympic Committee, with an agreement that has lasted more than a decade extended for another four years in September.

Jon Dye, chief executive of Allianz UK, said: "We are delighted to announce that we will continue to partner with the BPA through until 2020.

"With ParalympicsGB’s tremendous performance at Rio 2016, the success of our brand building programme and Allianz’s continued support at International level, it was an easy decision to continue our support.

"The 2016 partnership was incredibly popular with colleagues and we are very proud to continue the association."
